The Rotary Club of Ashburton & Buckfastleigh is looking for a friendly helping hand with its online presence. As many of you will know, friendship and fellowship sit at the heart of Rotary, and here on the edge of Dartmoor that spirit runs strong. Just as important is our fundraising and practical support for good causes locally, across the UK, and internationally.
What we’ve supported recently: Over the past year, the club has been able to make financial contributions to a wide range of organisations, from much-loved local groups to national and international charities:
- Moorland Community Care
- Children’s Hospice South West
- ShelterBox
- Prostate Cancer support
- Calvert Trust
- Len’s Donation
- Widecombe Primary School
- Riding for the Disabled
- Buckfastleigh Christmas Fair
- Bungalow Youth Project
- Buckfastleigh Library
- Buckfastleigh Youth Club
- Newton Abbot Museum
- Devon Air Ambulance
- Dictionaries for Life – provided to primary school leavers
From Devon Air Ambulance to ShelterBox, these are causes many of us know well and value. Rotary is a global network of volunteers, and our local club plays its part thanks to the time and goodwill of people here in Ashburton and Buckfastleigh.
Help needed: website and social media Sadly, within our current membership we don’t have anyone with experience—professional or amateur—in website management or social media. In today’s world, these simple tools make a big difference to sharing news of events, thanking supporters, and showing how funds are used.
If you enjoy keeping a website tidy or posting updates to social platforms, we’d be very grateful for your help. There’s no obligation to become a member (though you’d be warmly welcomed if you wished). A little time and know-how would go a long way towards helping us keep our community informed. Come and lend a hand—your support makes a real difference.
