Spend your Valentine’s evening in cosy company at the Moor Imagination CentreMae Karthauser Trio brings an intimate night of melody and mystery. Expect an otherworldly mix of voice, piano, cello and flute — a perfect midwinter treat for music-lovers. We’d love to see you there.
Devon-based songwriter Mae Karthauser — often compared to Joanna Newsom, Agnes Obel and Joni Mitchell, yet unlike any of them — conjures songs that shimmer between the familiar and the uncanny. Her latest album, August, emerged from a month-long ritual of writing a song each day, distilled into arrangements for piano, flute, cello and braided vocals: intimate yet expansive, delicate but edged with quiet wildness.
This special performance will wander through old and new material, weaving fresh incantations with beloved past creations — dream-touched, a little unpredictable, and unafraid of the darker hues. All ages welcome.
“Honest, authentic and relatable… a colourful and captivating atmosphere that beckons you to stop and take it all in.” — Folk Radio
“Epic… gorgeous… ethereal” — CLASH
“Her voice soars like a nightingale” — FATEA
Mae is joined by Ben Roberts on cello and Ronja Schlumberger on flute and backing vocals.
