Buckfastleigh Methodists & Buckfast Methodist Chapel share their December and January plans, from seasonal services and joyful carol gatherings to family-friendly nativity fun and welcoming coffee mornings. Find the latest schedule and January venue updates while ramp access works get underway.

There’s plenty to look forward to at Buckfast Methodist Chapel this winter. Do come and share in the season’s services and carols, and pop along to our friendly coffee mornings – we’d love to see you.

December Sunday services: Details for December will be posted on our Facebook page nearer the time, but we’ll follow our usual pattern – services at 3.00pm on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays, and 10.30am on the 2nd Sunday.

Sunday 14 December 2025, 10.30am – Carol Service at Buckfast Methodist Chapel, led by Rev. Kevin Hooke, with our Methodist friends from Ashburton. A warm welcome to all as we celebrate with favourite carols.

Carols and nativity in the barn: On the same day, Moor & Messy Church are hosting a family-friendly celebration with live animals helping to re‑tell the Nativity story – perhaps not camels, but plenty of smiles.

Sunday 14 December 2025, 3.00pm – Carols and Nativity Barn Christmas at Cyril’s Barn, Newcombe Farm, Coombe, TQ11 0JE.

Community carol singing: Join friends and neighbours for a good sing at the Valiant Soldier – the town’s much‑loved heritage pub and museum in the heart of Buckfastleigh.

Access improvements and January services: We’re delighted that work to create ramped access to the chapel is due to begin in early January – the materials, including local granite paving, are now on order. After the 3.00pm Sunday service on Sunday 4 January 2026 we will pause services at the chapel for a few weeks while the work is carried out. Details of any revised venues will be posted on our Facebook page.

Coffee mornings at The Valiant Soldier (10.00am–Noon): A friendly cuppa and chat – ideal for catching up with neighbours.

No coffee morning on Wednesday 3 December 2025 (Valiant Soldier preparing for Buckfastleigh Christmas Fair) and none on Wednesday 24 December 2025 (Christmas Eve).

January 2026: Coffee mornings will run on all Wednesdays, expected to be under the Warm Spaces initiative – free tea/coffee and biscuits, and maybe even cake. Do drop in and keep warm in good company.
