Moorland Community Caring are delighted to welcome our new Volunteer Co-ordinator, Sophia Young. Sophia has lived in Devon since 2016 and has called Ashburton home for the past four years. Over the last two years she has worked with a local agency supporting people in their homes, and before that she helped run a vibrant community kitchen, managing a team of fantastic volunteers and cooking for groups of up to 200 people. Last year she even published her own cookery book. Sophia loves bringing people together in simple, friendly ways so they can connect and share — we’re very excited to have her on the team.
About Sophia: Based in Ashburton, on the edge of Dartmoor, Sophia brings practical experience of volunteer management alongside a real flair for food and community. Her background in home support and large-scale community meals means she’s used to organising with care, good humour, and plenty of cups of tea.
Could you lend a hand? If you’ve a little time to spare, we’d love to hear from you. There are several ways to get involved and make a difference locally:
- Driver
- Moor Social volunteer
- Befriender
Come and join us — whether you’re new to volunteering or returning after a break, you’ll be warmly welcomed.
