Buckfast Short Mat Bowls Club is rolling into the new 2025/26 season, and everyone’s welcome to have a go. We start on Monday 22 September 2025 at 7.30pm at Southpark Community Hall, Buckfast, with a short AGM first, then straight into bowling until 9.30pm. If you’ve never tried short mat bowls before, do come along — it’s a gentle, sociable indoor game played on a roll-out mat, and it suits all ages and abilities.
New players are especially encouraged. Our friendly members are always happy to help you get started, and there are plenty of club woods you can borrow. To protect the mats, please play in socks, bare feet or tights, or bring a pair of carpet slippers — no outdoor shoes, thank you.
We meet every Monday and Friday evening at 7.30pm for around two hours of relaxed play, with a short break halfway for tea or coffee, a biscuit and a good chat. It’s a lovely way to unwind and get to know people — we’d love to see you there.
