Buckfastleigh WI July Update: Crafting, Competitions, and Upcoming Events

The Buckfastleigh Women's Institute met on July 9th, where they enjoyed a presentation by Noni from the Woolly Nanas about local weaving and wool projects. The group also discussed their upcoming events, including a coffee morning for Rowcroft Hospice on September 14th at the Valiant Soldier and their next meeting on September 10th at the Buckfastleigh Rangers Football Club.

July was a bustling month for the members of the Buckfastleigh Women's Institute. Our gathering on the 9th saw the warm presence of Noni from the Woolly Nanas, who delighted us with insights into the Moor Imagination Collective and the Moor Threads Community Project in Buckfastleigh. It was a joy to dabble in some simple weaving and marvel at the exquisite local wool, hand-dyed and spun right here in our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Noni for not only sharing her knowledge but also for judging our fun competition titled 'Colour Your Favourite Ice-Cream Flavour'. Congratulations to Georgina for clinching the top spot, followed by Liz and Elaine in second and third places respectively.

Gill provided an insightful recap of the key points from the Annual Meeting of the National Federation of Women’s Institutes, held at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. Additionally, we put the final touches on our plans for our August outing and our upcoming coffee morning, which promises to be a heartwarming event. Here’s a reminder to mark your calendars:

Looking ahead, our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 10th September at 7pm, at the Buckfastleigh Rangers Football Club on Duckspond Road.
